Chupchus (? - ? PC) was a male Wemitowuk medicine man. He had black hair. Chupchus believed that his skills in healing were great. When many of his tribe became ill with smallpox, he refused to allow his people to ask the goddess Mishakal for help. He insisted the tribe use his medicines and as a result many died from the disease and from his remedies. Chupchus as punishment was made into a julu zombie and condemned to the Garden of the Dead. As a zombie his hair was filthy, had burning eyes, and his skin was covered with vines and roots.
