Shadow Mastiffs are large black doglike creatures. They stand about two feet tall and weigh about two hundred pounds. They act like the dogs they look like with hunting in packs and being extremely territorial. Shadow Mastiffs don't come out during the day but will during the deep night. They cannot speak, but can understand the Common Language. Shadow Mastiffs come to Krynn usually by being summoned by spellcasters from the Plane of Shadow or the Abyss (which connects to the Plane of Shadow). AbilitiesShadow Mastiffs are capable of making a terrible howl that will cause fear in many. They are capable of blending in to shadows and becoming incorporeal. When they are in direct sunlight they become less aggressive and seem to lose some of their abilities. Shadow Mastiffs are capable of being incredibly silent when stalking prey. References
