Takhansho

A Takhansho is the spirit of a child that dies before their first birthday. The Uigan believe that they remain in the world until the next winter comes and if its parents conceive another child before the winter then the takhansho will enter the mother's womb and be reborn. The plural form of the word is takhanshi which means "Those Who Linger" in the Uigan Language.
