A beholder is a spherical creature about 2 meters in diameter, with flexible eyestalks spaced about its body, as well as a large central eye above a fanged maw. They are very rarely found on Krynn, and are usually the case of a curse or spell gone awry, or might have been summoned from the Ethereal Sea.

Each of a beholder's eyes (except their central eye) has a different magical ability: daze, read magic, cause fear, charm animal, charm humanoids, induce sleep, and cause death. Beholders worship mainly Hiddukel but may also worship many of the other evil gods. Beholders live in deep underground caverns and or complexes, occasionally coming to the surface to raid villages.
