Shaon of IstarArticle written by Kranar Drogin
Shaon of Istar (? - 414 AC) was a female Human who was from the island of Saifhum near the Blood Sea of Istar. She had dark skin, very short hair to the point of almost shaving it, and a walnut brown face. Shaon lived a carefree lifestyle, spending her money as she got it, and never running from a fight. She claimed that since she never ran, and because she was so good with her saber, she had never lost a fight. Early LifeShaon began her career at sea early in her life, when she decided to sign on as a common sailor for a ship. On this ship she went treasure hunting on the Blood Sea, went in search of the hidden Dragon Isles, and even went as far as Icereach. What she found the most exciting was joining a band of pirates in northern Ansalon. She felt this was the good life, taking over ships, dropping the people off, and making a lot of steel on the sale of the ships and goods. During this time she met another sailor named Rig Mer-Krel. Shaon met him when her ship sank in the Blood Sea, and Rig saved her life. She immediately signed onto his ship the Sanguine Lady. Over the next couple of years, he taught her everything he knew, and they became close friends. In 412 AC, Shaon, Rig, and the crew of their current ship mutinied against the captain. It was bloodless, but at the next port, both Shaon and Rig left the ship even though Rig was the first mate at the time. For the next two years, they ferried people from Abanasinia to Schallsea at New Ports. Hero of the HeartShaon was eager for some excitement, so when Dhamon Grimwulf appeared in 414 AC, and wanted to go to Palanthas, Shaon was all for leaving the area. It took some convincing to get Rig to go along with it, but in the end he did and they took them on their ship Wind Chaser. Eventually the Heroes made their way to the city of Palanthas. While in port there, Gale, a Dragonlord for Khellendros attacked their ship and almost cut Shaon in two with one of his claws. Shaon did not survive the battle, and Rig had her body buried at sea.
