Ocean Striders are a rare race of giant fey that that live in Krynn's oceans. They stand about twenty feet tall and look like Elves crossed with killer whales. Their mouths are full of pointed teeth and their blubbery skin has black and white markings similar to orcas. They are typically equipped with large falchions or tridents.

Ocean Striders consider themselves protectors of the oceans and the life in it. Often negotiating with ships or attacking them if they disrespect the sea.

They choose to remain solitary from each other due to their large appetites. If they were to form communities their combined appetites would cull the surrounding waters of all edible life.

Abilities

Ocean Striders have natural spell casting abilities. Their most popular ability and what they are named for is the ability to run on the surface of the water and through the water as easily as they can run on land. They can breathe both water and air. They also have the ability to summon numerous Water Elementals and aquatic animals, can control water, make fog and cones of ice. Perhaps one of deadliest abilities is to the ability to cast a spell to steal moisture from creatures.

Death

When an Ocean Strider reaches old age and sense their natural death coming, they go to a secret graveyard called the Spawning Deeps. The Spawning Deeps is also used in referring to their 'heaven.' It is here in the next life that the Ocean Striders believe that fish will be in such abundance that they can form communities and live together.
