Abelaard (309 AC - ? AC) was born the son of Daeghrefn and an unknown mother. Through his mother's affair with Daeghrefn's friend Laca Dragonbane, he had one half-brother named Verminaard of Nidus. Following the death of his mother, Abelaard looks over Verminaard and tries to protect him. Abelaard had Dark hair, dark skin, and brown eyes.

In 325 AC, Daeghrefn announced that a gebo-naud would be exchanged with Laca. Daeghrefn figured this would be a way to get rid of Verminaard, but the young mage Cerestes said that since Abelaard was the eldest, he must be the one to go with Laca. Abelaard travel to East Borders to live with Laca and train as a Knight of Solamnia. Eight years later in 333 AC, Abelaard would fight against his now grown brother. Verminaard, wielding Nightbringer, blinded his half-brother, which forced Abelaard to retreat. Abelaard stayed blind at East Borders until the song of Aglaca Dragonbane cured him. It is unknown what became of Abelaard.
