Familiars

Familiars are animals that are bonded to Wizards to act as assistants, guardians, or even as spies. The more popular choices are creatures such as mice, cats, or birds, but some wizards may take a dangerous familiar from another of Krynn's planes of existence. An example of a creature from another plane would be a pseudodragon.
