DisjunctionArticle written by Paul RecordDisjunction is an Abjuration spell that a Mage or Sorcerer may cast to disjoin magic items and magical effects, except those carried or touched by the caster. Disjunction causes spells and spell-like effects to be separated into individual components. Fate or chance often determines if a magic item is turned normal or not. The spell can also destroy artifacts. The chance of destroying such a powerful item depends on the power of the caster. Even if an artifact is destroyed, the caster runs the chance of irrevocably losing her spell casting abilities. Destroying artifacts often attracts the attention of powerful beings. The caster must be able to say the spell correctly, complete the appropriate hand gestures, and provide the proper arcane component/focus. References
