Tsorthan GroveArticle written by Wrenn SilverleafThe Tsorthan Grove was the protective grove that once surrounded the Tower of High Sorcery at Losarcum in Dravinaar. Tsorthan means "yearning" in the language of magic. The grove consists of dense dark cypress trees with no underbrush. The soil here is barren beneath the trees with no animals or plants growing besides the trees. Tsorthan's enchantment was crafted by the greatest enchanter of the Second Age, Yalashim the Mind-raveler. The enchantment uses the victims passions against them, as they walk further and further into the grove they turn inward thinking single-mindedly of only the one passion they feel strongest about. Eventually their pace slows to a crawl and then they stop and stand wither mind turned inward. At this point they receive a vision of their passions turned against them, they would fall to the ground with a profound sense of despair sobbing. When this would happen the black robed mages from the tower would seize the intruder and dump them outside of the grove alive if they were deemed to serve no threat. If they were a treat their corpse was dumped outside the grove. The enchantment of Tsorthan was first broken when Lord Cathan MarSevrin broke through the grove using a magical seed. The tower soon fell as did the grove but it is said that some of the enchantment still effects those who visit the ruins of the Tower of Losarcum. References
