Balakan Grove

Article written by Wrenn Silverleaf & Ambro

The Balakan Grove was the protective grove that once surrounded the Tower of High Sorcery at Istar. Balakan means "memory" in the Magius Language. Balakan Grove was formed with gnarled Olive Trees, which hang heavy with green and black fruit that never falls. Those who strode the paths of Balakan Grove felt a strong compulsion to leave the paths and walk among the trees only to be lost in the forest. Those who thwarted the call to walk among the trees, and stayed on the path were faced with a memory loss. Which caused them to forget why they had come, where they were going, some even forgot their names. To those who ate the fruit of the olive trees the worst fate of all would befall, they where cursed to loose their memory forever.

The spell Vision of Dusk's Eye can be cast on someone to safely pass through the grove. Also, the All-Seeing Eye was given to the Kingpriest Beldinas Pilofiro when the Wizards abandoned the tower so he could safely pass through the grove.
