Torbin

Article written by Paul Record

Torbin (? -? AC) was a Knight of Solamnia following the War of the Lance in 355 AC, that was out seeking a real struggle, to be a hero. He was a young, handsome knight. With a slightly hooked nose, clean shaven face, brown hair, and bright blue eyes.

After speaking to a Commoner, he decided he would go to the village of Dragon's Point were it was rumored a single Minotaur was terrorizing the town. When he arrived in town, the town elders, Mayor Hallard Boarbreaker, Chief Fisherman Campos, and the tax collector confronted him. From them he learned of the location of the Minotaur and that it was in fact just one of the man-beats. Promising to return with the creature's head, Sir Torbin spurred his warhorse and road off to challenge the foul beast. Instead of finding a worthy monster to make a trophy of, he instead found an intelligent being that had a deep understanding of honor. Unable to fight or kill the Minotaur, Torbin instead befriended the man-beast.

However, the friendship was not to last as the Minotaur was marked for execution and after a few days; more Minotaurs arrived to perform the execution. Asked to bear witness, Torbin stood by as the other Minotaurs battled his new friend. Though his friend was strong, managing to kill at least two of his executioners, he did not survive and it was left to Torbin to provide him a proper burial.

After burying the Minotaur, Torbin returned to Dragon's Point, gathered his remaining items and rode out of town with only one stony glance back.
