Whitestone ArmyArticle written by Kranar DroginThe Whitestone Army was formed following the completion of the Whitestone Council at the Whitestone Glade of the free people of Ansalon. The free people included those from Solamnia, {Mt. Nevermind}, Northern Ergoth, Sancrist Isle, Qualinesti, Silvanesti, and Thorbardin. The majority of the army was made up of Knights of Solamnia with those from the other nations supporting them. The army was led first and foremost by Lord Gunthar Uth Wistan, and he then appointed Laurana Kanan as general of the Whitestone Forces. With Laurana, or the Golden General, at the head of the army they were able to drive the Dragonarmies from all the free realms of Ansalon with final defeat being in 352 AC. Whitestone Army (352 AC)Commander: Laurana Kanan riding Quallathon Elven Windriders: 1 company of 60 griffon cavalry StructureSolamnic InfantryThe Solamnic infantry is basically comprised of professional soldiers and volunteers mixed together, with Knights heading up the command structure. Once in a while loyal soldiers of the Solamnic Knights will be put in command of troops, but mainly you have knights serving in all officers positions.: Type: Infantry Solamnic CavalryThe cavalry is the heart of the Solamnic forces, usually being led by the Lord Warrior and Lord Knights. The companies of soldiers are made up of Knights and of professional soldiers only.: Type: Cavalry Dragon ForcesOnce the Metallic Dragons joined with the armies of good they normally would attach themselves with Knights. All five colors are apart of the forces with mosting being of the mature adult or younger age, and one very old Silver Dragon, two old Bronze Dragons, and an ancient Brass Dragon. In total there were 4 Gold Dragons, 7 silver dragons, 15 bronze dragons, 20 Copper Dragons, and 26 brass dragons fighting for the Whitestone Forces that began with The Vingaard Campaign in 352 AC. Elven ForcesMain article: House Protector Most of the elves in the Whitestone Army were Qualinesti Elves with a few Silvanesti Elves mixed in. Most of the Silvanesti went back to their own homeland to fight Lorac's Nightmare. The elves were also known to have have griffon riders who assisted in scouting and fighting of the Chromatic Dragons.: Type: Cavalry and Infantry Dwarven ForcesThe dwarven forces were based out of Thorbardin, never actually assisting in the north. They had their hands full with the Battle of the Temple and the land outside of Thorbardin following the death of Verminaard again. Dwarves of Kayolin served Solamnia in the southern portion and have assisted them since the begining of the war.: Type: Infantry Mercenary InfantryThese are humans that have journeyed from outside of the realm of Solamnia to fight for the Whitestone Forces. Most of these people are from all over Ansalon and might not understand each other in their languages, and so don't fight as well as Solamnic Infantry.: Type: Infantry Mercenary CavalryThe mercenary cavalry fight in the fore front of the army and fight almost as hard and well as a trained Knight. They are usually paid much better than common infantry for their fighting skills, but the Whitestone Council really didn't have a choice whether to pay them or not needing troops quickly. They were also known to have come from all corners of Ansalon.: Type: Cavalry Kender ArmyKronin Thistleknott formed the Kender Armies by talking, coercing, and bribing all of the soldiers into the army. They were based out in Northern Ergoth and never really saw and action during the war. The kender army had the ability to taunt the entire enemy army into charging against it. The army also had the most commanders per soldier of any army known to date.: Type: Infantry References
