Baridor Redic was a powerful warrior who was just passing his warrior prime when the Ackalite hordes again continued their raiding on the Ergothian settlements. In 30 AC, through use of effective tactics and bravery, Redic led the Ergothian troops in driving the Ackalites back across the northern Alunatal River. Redic then ordered the construction of Castle Hillfal from which to defend the land from the Ackalites and was elevated to the position of emperor, as he was already popular of the hero of Northern Ergoth.

The reign of Baridor Redic I was marred with fighting between the Ergothians and the Ackalites. Rioting often occurred during his reign, and Hillfal became the central defensive post from which Redic I had his soldiers defend his empire from the Ackalite hordes. Shortly after Baridor Redic I came to power, he established Gwynned as the new seat of the Ergothian empire. Daltigoth had been lost along with the southern part of Ergoth, and so Gwynned, as the former summer home of the emperors became the new home of the emperor.
