Mellamy Zan

Article written by Uziel & Darcwulf

Mellamy Zan (2420 PC - ?) was the youngest of the daughters of the Pakin Pretender, the leader of the Pakin faction who fought the Ackal faction for rule of Ergoth. However her father's forces lost against Pakin III, and the child Mellamy was brought up in near secret until she moved to Tarsis in her teens and stayed there until she was twenty-five. When civil unrest occurred again in 2395 PC, her followers moved her to Caergoth, fearing that the enemies of the Pakins would strike at Mellamy.

It wasn't until the death of Ackal V and the regency of the four warlords in 2395 PC, that Mellamy began to act. She had already raised a vast army of Pakin supporters, and in 2394 PC she marched her army towards Daltigoth to claim the throne. Whilst the younger two regents were removed from power through internal fighting, Mellamy faced her army off against the forces of Regent Vanz Hellman. The Battle of Caer Crossing was a bloody exchange, but ultimately Mellamy was victorious through the aid of her talented and masked general. Mellamy's army continued to the gates of Daltigoth to claim the throne in 2391 PC.

The red-robed wizard Helbin engineered a plan to marry Mellamy to the Ackal heir, a nephew of Ackal V, in a bid to peacefully end the war. The meeting went ahead and was agreed to, however Mellamy was not satisfied with becoming empress to an Ackal ruler, instead she wanted the throne for herself. Mellamy petitioned several powerful sorcerers who undertook magical rites to transform her into a man, and she became Mellamax Zan shortly before her wedding.

"Mellamax" then took the throne by force, but only ruled as Emperor of Ergoth for one hundred days in 2391 PC. In short time, General Gonzakan, the only surviving regent, returned from hiding with his Ackal loyalists and deposed Mellamax. Unable to keep her pact with the sorcerers, the princess Mellamy soon returned and she fled back to Tarsis. Mellamy lived a life of luxury for a few short years more, until she was killed in Tarsis by the agents of Regent Gonzakan.
