Gwynned VIArticle written by UzielWhilst the power of holy Istar continued to spread in the Age of Might, the power of the Ergothian emperor waned even further. In the reign of Gwynned VI (? - ? PC) in 19 PC, the emperor witnessed the destruction of the Tower of High Sorcery in Daltigoth, by the followers of the Kingpriest Beldinas, and the Ergothian noble, Duke Serl. Even though the emperor had reluctantly given permission for the attack, with a good deal of Daltigoth decimated and many of his people killed, Gwynned VI rose up against the holy empire.
In response to some initial fighting between Istarian troops and the Ergothian army, the Kingpriest listed Gwynned VI as an agent of evil. However the majority of Istar's forces were kept busy with hunting down Goblins, Minotaurs, and the truly evil races, and they spent little time against the Ergothian army, preferring to simply keep them at bay. By 8 PC, Emperor Gwynned VI had raised a vast army, which he used to put down any resistance from Solamnia and then planned to march onto Istar itself. The war between Istar and Ergoth lasted for seven years, with both Thelgaard and Solanthus under full siege from the Ergothians, and allies occupying Xak Tsaroth, who were prepared to launch another offensive through the Khalkist Mountains. However Gwynned VI died suddenly in 1 PC, and his fight against Istar died along with the monarch. References
