Lekaer VII (ca. 947 PC) was famed for making enemies with the growing nation of Istar. Following the Third Dragon War, Istar offered its aid to many of the ravaged nations. However Lekaer VII believed and openly stated that whilst Istar shows a friendly face and extends a hand to those who need it, they also carry a poisoned dagger in the other, to smite those who do not comply with their demands. He was quoted once for saying "{Ergoth}, the mightiest nation of Ansalon, will never be the slave of merchants who want be kings."

At the time, Lekaer VII fell out of favor with the rulers of many other nations, and gained the ire of Istar. However his words rang true years later, when Istar began imposing trade standards on those nations who had accepted their "aid".
