Lucien of TakarArticle written by Uziel & StickoLucien (ca. ? - 355 AC) was a fierce and cunning half-ogre fighter, who was short of stature and had swarthy skin, which was the only real hint to his ogre heritage. Many Humans had treated the warrior with contempt once they learn of his ogre father, and in turn he had a deep-seated hatred of most humans. In contrast, Lucien felt comfortable around ogres, and was knowledgeable about and respectful of their ways, and in turned received acceptance from them, even though he was only a half-ogre. He even had a number of ogre bodyguards surrounding him at most times, when he was serving as Dragon Highlord of the Black Dragonarmy.
Early LifeOgre raiders who were patrolling the borders of Blöde several decades before the War of the Lance took Lucien's human mother. The female captive was taken advantage of by her captors, and gave birth to a young male half-ogre, which she named Lucien and cared for. After several years of being raised amongst the ogres of Blöde, his mother escaped from Blöde with her son, fleeing to the city of Takar. Upon reaching Takar, his mother handed him over to be cared for by relatives, before she perished. War of the LanceAn experienced fighter and mercenary, Lucien heard of the Dragonarmies and saw it as his ticket to power. He was quick to ally himself with the dark armies, initially serving in the mercenary forces within the Dragonarmies, before his knowledge about ogres brought him directly into the notice of Ariakas himself. His knowledge about ogres enabled the Dragonarmies to convince the ogres of Blöde to join in the war, and Ariakas was so pleased with Lucien, that he promoted him to the role of Dragon Highlord of the Black Dragonarmy (which had been recently vacated by the slain Maldeev). A silent and emotionless man, his cautious and well planned attacks proved to be devastating against the Whitestone forces. With the defeat of the Dragonarmies at the end of the war, Lucien maintained his forces and escaped, however three years after the war he was assassinated by the lackeys of one of his own Highmasters. He was succeeded by his loyal Highmaster Marcus Cadrio, however in respect to his former master, Cadrio never assumed the title of Dragon Highlord.
