Aman DuanArticle written by Paul RecordAman Duan (? - ? AC) was a love stricken Human who lived in the fabled city of Gal Tra'kalas. He spent his days following his true love, Mala, as she moved around the city going about her life. Like all spectral citizens of Gal Tra'kalas, she was unaware of Aman and his love for her. It was during one of Aman's walks with Mala that he came upon Prince Gilthanas Solostaran. The prince had just escaped from the clutches of Reyl Konnal, the Military Governor of Silvanesti. Suffering dehydration, he stopped at the well, seeing people drinking from it. However, it was a spectral well and before long Gilthanas collapsed, succumbing to his wounds. Aman moved Gilthanas to his house and then went to the port to seek the aid of a healer and to let the Legion of Steel know what he found. Before long Gilthanas awoke and Aman explained to Gilthanas that he was in the fabled city of Gal Tra'kalas, the Missing City. As the prince tried to absorb this information, the commander of the Legionaries, Falaius Taneek, arrived. After introductions, the conversation moved away from Aman as he became distracted by the actions of Mala. She was packing and not for a short trip. Her and spectral family were leaving the city but before Aman could act on this, he was knocked or fell unconscious. He awoke to Gilthanas and Falaius discussing Mala and her family leaving and what it would do to Aman. Hearing their words, Aman took off to try to stop Mala. It was futile. The spectral woman could not see the man who loved her and she left after waving good-bye to a city that knew nothing of Aman's love for her. It was then that Gilthanas intervened and counseled the grieving Aman. Using his life as an example, Gilthanas showed that Aman had much to live for and should not waste it by wasting away in the Missing City. Seeing a fate more horrible than his in the princes' eyes, Aman acknowledged this and soon set out for the Citadel of Light to become a mystic under Goldmoon. References
