Vedvedsica

Article written by Kranar Drogin

Vedvedsica's (Ved-ved-SEEK-ah) (ca. 4400 - ca. 500 PC) origins are hazy at best. It is known that he had at least one daughter named Ri Om. He was also the great-uncle to Vvelz and Li El.

In 4007 PC, he looked older with a feathery mustache and beard which seems to hint that he might not be fully elven.

Founding of Silvanesti

Early on, Vedvedsica took a leadership role even before the founding of the elven nation of Silvanesti. He was the powerful leader of a group called the Brown Hoods. When the elves had the first Sinthal-Elish, Vedvedsica offered to back Lord Balif for leadership of the elves. He then cast a spell to show Balif his future, and when Balif saw it, he quickly backed Silvanos Goldeneye. Vedvedsica was the first high sage to Lord Balif and the nation of Silvanesti.

Barbarian Removal

Vedvedsica lost a magical artifact, that looked like a golden nugget, when he attacked Pa'alu and the Bronze Dragon named Duranix. Pa'alu cut off his left wrist in the fight, and Duranix then took the gold nugget with him when Vedvedsica had to run away. Vedvedsica then saved Pa'alu from Sthenn a few days later, and in exchange Pa'alu would get the nugget back for Vedvedsica.

He visits the barbarian leader Karada in 4007 PC, and showed her what exactly her barbarian hordes were up against in the Silvanesti. He renders both of them invisible and together they travel to Silvanost so he can show her the city and its people.

First Downfall

It was known that Vedvedsica overreached himself and for that Balif dismissed him from his service. For his past services, Silvanos saved his life, and was banished to the Valley of the Blue Sands sometime before the year 3995 PC. According to the barbarians living in Yala-tene, he was banished to an island south of Ansalon.

Before the Kinslayer War

It is unknown how Vedvedsica came into the good graces of the Speaker of the Stars again, but in 2508 PC Sithel Silvanos came down with delta fever. Vedvedsica in secret, was able to cure this illness for him. Sithel kept him around in secret, paying him for his services.

In 2308 PC, Vedvedsica shows Sithel what it means by having twin sons Sithas Silvanos and Kith-Kanan Silvanos. Next time that Vedvedsica assists again is when Sithel starts becoming ill again in 2215 PC, and again for a price Vedvedsica heals him.

During the Kinslayer War, Vedvedsica gave to Sithel a scroll and a map to where they could find griffins to tame. With this, the elves were able to get an air borne calvary group together.

Second Downfall

Following the Kinslayer War, the elven general named Hestantafalas, wanted to take the war to Caergoth itself. He was imprisoned and then freed by his followers, who then fled to Bordon-Hest. Vedvedsica was serving Hestantafalas as his chief advisor in that elven city. When the town was surrounded, Vedvedsica cast a spell that opened the earth itself and the elves of the city were able to escape down below the surface on the twenty-fourth day of the siege in 2140 PC.

Founding of the Hest

Together, these elves lived underground and founded the cities of Vartoom, Balowil, and Arvanest. Vedvedsica founded the Hall of Light, which was the magical aspect of the new elven nation. It is unknown how or if he died.

Powers

It seems that Vedvedsica first got his powers from a place call the Standing Stones. He would break off chips of these rocks and use these rocks to create some very powerful spells. He had the ability to make himself and whoever was with him invisible so that a person can walk straight through you. Can shape change and travel over long stretches of land in a single bound.

Vedvedsica used to own the Kinsheesus Talikanathor and made his own notes in it about the certain powers and spells.

Inconsistencies

He has been called Vedvedisca also, and it was said that Sithas Silvanos was the one who first banished him to the Valley of the Blue Sands, but this was not possible since that took place sometime before 3995 PC before Sithas was even born.
