Pyrothraxus

Article written by Uziel

Pyrothraxus (birth: unknown), like many of the dragons who came to Ansalon during the Age of Mortals, was not born on the world of Krynn, but rather on the native dragon world. Being a Red Dragon, even smaller than Malystryx and some of his fellow Dragonlords, Pyrothraxus was constantly hunted on his own world. In 391 AC, Pyrothraxus joined a host of other dragons who traveled from the alien dragon world, into the realm of Krynn, and then headed westward to claim a domain for himself within Ansalon.

Arrival on Krynn

In 392 AC, Pyrothraxus claimed the area of Mount Nevermind, subjugating the gnomes and attempting to bend them to his will. However after a series of battles, which included annihilating a large number of gnomes and decimating the upper section of Mount Nevermind, Pyrothraxus found himself still approached by the little folk, who continued to batter him with their inventions or ask him various questions. Initially in disgust, the red dragon left Mount Nevermind and retreated to a private lair in the surrounding mountains. However the gnomes, believing the dragon's arrival to be a great stroke of luck, have pursued him time and again, so they can test their inventions on him. The gnomes of Mount Nevermind have begun a regular trek to Pyrothraxus' lair to test their weapons or quiz him about all sorts of things. The dragon has gradually lost his grip on sanity, however he sternly refuses to leave the area, and admit that the gnomes have gotten the better of him. Even throughout the War of Souls, the mad dragon remains in the general area of Mount Nevermind, unwilling to admit any kind of defeat.

Titles and Nicknames

Pyrothraxus is considered something of an amusement by many other dragons, and is not respected by any of his peers at all. Draconians fear and honor him, and the gnomes believe he is wonderful. The red dragon is simply known to most as Pyro.
