Description:

Lucius is tall, 6'2", with a wiry build. His dark hair falls past his shoulder. He has several distinguishing features as a result of his heritage. His skin is pale, ashen, often leading people to think he is ill or diseased. His teeth are slightly pointed, but not full-on vampire sharp. It's his eyes though, that are his most arresting features being completely black. Although his ears are very much elf-like Lucius clearly has a human physique.

An extremely insular and private person, Lucius hates attention preferring instead to remain blended into the background. He rarely smiles due to the fact that his teeth tend to "upset" the casual observer and he wears cloaks with deep hoods to help hide his unusual eyes. Although he can seem dark and bitter, he has a good and kind heart. Due to the many times his appearance has caused him trouble, Lucius fears having to act (i.e. draw attention to himself) and yet he never fails to do so when the time comes. If at all possible he will do what needs to be done and disappear before anyone is aware he has been around, a few arrows out of the darkness being an ideal method for the archer. It takes a long time for Lucius to trust someone, but once earned, Lucius is a true friend for life. Despite feeling a certain "gratefulness" towards his father whom he credits his skill with the bow, Lucius despises Dark Knights and takes great joy in thwarting them and their plans at every turn.

Background:

Lucius was born in Neraka the illegitimate son of a dark knight, one Andyn uth Gradin. Gradin, the right hand of Sir Jerod Argentbane founder of the Blood Oath Archers, was himself a Blood Oath Archer of great renown and a veteran of the Chaos War. His mother, a half breed plainsman, was a camp follower Gradin favoured for a while. After Lucius was born, his mother fled unable to reconcile with her child's monstrous appearance, leaving him to be raised by his hard and merciless father. The Skull and Thorn Knights said that Lucius was the cursed result of Chaos's influence on the world, a "Child of Chaos" and that he should be slain to prevent the dark gods return through this spawn. Gradin laughed at such claims, refusing to believe in such superstitious paranoia.

Lucius learnt to shoot a bow almost as soon as he could walk and by the time he reached puberty, his potential was clearly evident. Eventually one of Gradin's rivals used the fear Lucius's appearance generated to convince a group of Dark Knights to turn on the Blood Oath Archer and slay him in a murderous ambush. Lucius, thirteen at the time, fled Neraka, fearful for his life. For a while he wandered throughout Ansolon, lurking on the outskirts of civilisation, the places where people don't ask lots of questions, never staying in one place for long.

Lucius who was in Solamnia when the War of Souls started, joined with the forces of light and fought in the battle of Sanction against the forces of Mina and the One God. It was there he met an elven archer who changed the way he viewed his own archery. Alathar Shatharial, recognising some indefinable quality in Lucius, taught the young archer how to blend magic and arrows into a cohesive whole. For several years he lurked on the edge of elven society as they survived in Khur. He assisted refugees fleeing from Silvanesti, recovered lost elven artifacts and other similar deeds. During this time, he worked closely with several Steel Legionnaires, but he refused membership when it was offered, fearing his presence would damage the organisation. He does however carry a token so other Legionnaires will recognise him as an ally. Eventually his presence began to draw too much attention of the wrong sort to the elves, most of whom distrusted him anyway, so he moved on again heading south across the Plains of Dust towards Tarsis.
