All black irises, sometimes covered by a thin gauze of cloth in bright light – he often raises his hand to his eyes when looking at/for something to shade them further. He has longish, dark hair tied back in a ponytail and dresses in greens and browns. He has a tattoo of a silver birch tree running up his spine and over his shoulders. When anyone suggests that something will be straightforward, easier than it seems or has an up-side, he laughs cynically and responds negatively. He will shed a tear when innocents die, or a cause is lost, though.
Darkeyes has become cynical over the years, partly as a result of being tormented by his peers because of his odd looks and sensitivity to bright light, but mainly due to his months of fighting in the slave pits of the ogres in Daltigoth. However, his understanding of the plight of those in need pushes him to always lend his aid when he sees those truly deserving of help.
As he has grown into an adult, Darkeyes has come to terms with his birth defect and is not emotionally sensitive to people's reactions to his looks. He can show the advantage of his darkvision if he needs to truly counter anyone's prejudice but does not go out of his way to show off this skill.
