Dara is as lithe and graceful as any other elfin maiden, although her brown eyes sparkle with youth and enthusiasm. She wears her hair cut shorter than is the normal style among the nobles of Silvanesti, cut to no lower than the nape of her neck.

Dara, although polite and proper, brims with youth and vigour. She tries to act as a young Silvanesti lady should, but she has given up seeking to be what she cannot be. Since her domination by the Unnameable, she has lost a little of her sparkle, her laughter and smiles seem a little feigned and superficial to those that astutely watch her.
During the time when Nuitari is at High Sanction is when the Unnameable has greatest sway over her. She becomes a little more reckless and angry and is capable of committing vile acts under the Unnameable's domination. During this those times, her eyes shine with odd silver glow, obscuring her pupils.

Dara had not long started her career as a Kirath when she was dealt a serve blow, the death of her parents during the siege of Silvanost. Her family was from House Protector, with strong ties to the Wildrunners. Dara's father tired to ensure that Dara enlisted to join the Wildrunners, as he had done, but ultimately was disappointed when she instead chose to enter the Kirath.
Dara was quick to rise in the Kirath, carried along by her almost unfailing enthusiasm and love for her people. Although Dara is a Silvanesti, she has inherited a dark family secret – her father's side of the family has a strong Qualinesti bloodline. Dara served with distinction until recently. Dara, while out on patrol, came across ancient ruins. These ruins were until the nightmare unleashed by Lorac on to the Silvanesti forest, guarded. With its guardians slain or forced away, the ancient entity that had been trapped within the ruins seized its opportunity and reached out to Dara, taking control over her mind.
The entity, known only as the Unnameable, has used Dara to commit minor acts of evil and sabotage. It has been using her to bring others to it to feast on.
