Description:

Bal'thazar is a tall (over 8 feet) and regal looking dragonman. He holds himself above the normal chatter and antics of those around him. Although not seen, the aura of static that surrounds him becomes more pronounced as he becomes engaged in combat and is easily felt.

Bal'thazar has a commanding yet serene quality about, his dragonlike face is quick to smile at the simple joys that he finds in life and equally quick to anger and steel himself against the forces of darkness. Strangely for a devout follower of Kiri-Jolith, Bal'thazar has emblazed on his armour the head of a majestic dragon, coloured with gold, silver, bronze, brass and copper.

Background:

Bal'thazar Bladebright was one of a brood of six lightning draconian hatchlings that hatched and grew up within an ancient ruined library. The hatchlings used the materials around them to make the drifty and damp ruin slightly more bearable. One by one the other hatchlings slipped away, leaving Bal'thazar alone.

On the Night of the Two Moons, when the Gods of Krynn returned to their stolen world, Bal'thazar started to listen to a soft voice within his head. The voice was strong and stern and yet kind and full of love for all things that grew strong and tall in the light. Bal'thazar became focused on the voice, and listened more and more to that voice, which told him that evil walked again in the world, and people like him would stand in the front line against that evil, combating it wherever it was. The voice belonged to Kiri-Jolith, the Righteous God of Combat.

Bal'thazar dedicated himself to the teaching of Kiri-Jolith and was readying himself to leave the ruins of his hatching when a company of adventures discovered the ruins. Spending time watching the company, Bal'thazar decided that, although there was a dwarf within the company with evil in his heart, he would speak with them and show himself.

Bal'thazar worked with the company before sensing that his life would be leading him off on another road and took the opportunity to leave on an errant that would take him south, towards the growing evil. Although this road did come at a price: he would travel the first part of it with the dwarf. He had been charged to deliver a manuscript to the Tower of Wayreth, along with the dwarf. Bal'thazar is currently trying to teach the dark dwarf Zagreb the error of his ways along the way.

Note: Bal'thazar uses the Lightning Draconian monster class that can be found on the Nexus, and although it is not normally allowable for characters with monster classes, I have allowed him to multi-class as a paladin.
