Amberstar is named for her luxuriant yellow hair. She wears warm furs and has a golden necklace, which is an heirloom from her mother, given to her as a gift when she started her wanderlust. Amber has dark eyes, which hold a mischievous twinkle. Amberstar, or Amber to her friends, prefers to travel lightly, only carrying as much as her pack can hold and her two kender weapons. Amber has a fondness for gold, especially golden earrings and carries a small collection of them in her pouches.
Amberstar first went on her wanderlust, that state of kender life when they have the urge to travel, during the semi-peaceful times just before the War of the Lance broke out. She left her peaceful village north of Hylo and set out into the world.
She originally had ideas of traveling to Palanthas, the fabled Lord City. She never made it. When the War of the Lance began, Amber had not long reached the forests of Silvanesti when she started to hear the tales of the Dragonarmies. She immediately gave up the idea of traveling further north and turned back, heading back to help the elves against the eastern Dragonarmies. Passing once again through the elven forests, Amber was heartbroken to see the nightmare that had taken hold in the forests and started to hate the Dragonarmies. Without pausing for too long, Amber made her way back and was reunited with her elven friends. She convinced some of them to go and take a look at the strange new creatures that were in the Dragomarmy, the draconians.
Together with her friends, Amber became a camp follower, and they kept finding all sorts of interesting objects, keys, orders, signal flags to help the draconians, who had a bad tendency to lose things.
The greatest find was a copy of the order of battle for the Black Dragonarmy. Amber took the battle order and liked to look at the bright blazons and markings without realizing the importance of it until she showed it to one of her friends, a soldier on the side of good. Amber so enjoyed seeing her friend jumping up and down with sheer joy that she spied on the Dragonarmies for the side of good during the remainder of the war.
After the War of the Lance, Amber continued with her wanderlust, traveling west to see the town of Solace, and the now-famous Inn of the Last Home. From there she traveled north, seeking to travel through Solamnia to reach Palanthas.
Amber, like most true kender, is carefree and fearless. She picks up numerous "misplaced" trinkets, which she carries in her pouches just in case she ever finds their owners. She enjoys adventuring and is very loyal to her friends (even if she doesn't always listen to their advice).
Notes: Amberstar uses the variant rules for a non-spellcasting ranger given in Complete Warrior as well as the scout class presented in Complete Adventurer. The accuracy quality for her whippik is presented in the Nexus, while her dishonorable armour quality is presented in the War of the Lance sourcebook. Statistics for the whippik can be found in the article "Equipping your Character" by James O'Rance, which is posted on the Nexus.
