Calandria is an attractive woman, in her early 30's. She's normally wearing a sad expression on her otherwise attractive face. She has long red hair, and wear's Red Robes, which mark her as a wizard.
Calandria is a friendly and personable wizard, despite this; however, she finds it difficult to form lasting and meaningful friendships. The tragedies of her life have made it difficult for her to become close to people. She hates Draconians and avoids them at all costs as they were responsible for the deaths of her parents.
The one thing she seeks is a place where she can call home. Until she finds that, she will continue to throw herself into her Magic.
After the death of her parents at the age of 10, she became an apprentice to a wizard of the Red Robes. She worked hard, and developed her talent, until tragedy struck again, and her mentor was killed for selling a faulty magical item. At the age of 12 she was again homeless. She packed up her possessions and several magic items of her mentor, and joined up with a group of travelling performers, where she cooked and cleaned in return for a place to sleep and the safety of the group.
When she left she had learnt to dance and sing. She used these skills to survive; she would sing and dance in return for a place to sleep. All the while she studied magic, and eventually travelled to Wayreth to take her test.
However, the Orders almost turned her away; her mentor wasn't a member in good standing. She managed to convince them to allow her to be placed on probation, where she continued her studies under their cold supervision. She was eventually allowed to take the Test, and became a wizard of the Red Robes.
She stayed at the Tower of High Sorcery for a number of years, but couldn't form any close friendships with the wizards who were so cold to her, during her probation.
In Your Campaign:
Calandria might make an ally to your player characters, she's knowledgeable about all things magical, she can hire the PC's to aid her by recovering long lost magical items. Or she could be sought out for advice regarding magic or magical items.
It's unlikely that she is alive in the time after the War of Souls, if she is alive though, she'd likely have returned to the Orders of Sorcery, and aided in the rebuilding, perhaps there she found her home.
