5'10", 145 lbs., rust red hair, hazel eyes, 102 years old (middle-aged). Tanis was born on Spring Dawning 9th by the Elven calendar (3/9/249).

Tanis is the product of rape, involving his elven mother and a human mercenary. His mother died during childbirth, so Tanis was raised in the courts of Qualinesti through the efforts of Solostaran, Speaker of the Suns. Despite his upbringing, Tanis was often pitied and/or scorned by the elves. Tanis had an infatuation with Laurana and a brief friendship with her brother Gilthanas, but became true friends with a visiting dwarf named Flint. The pair left Qualinesti together and settled in Solace. The Companions often look to Tanis for guidance, but his internal struggles have caused him to question his ability to know what is right.
