Auld "Dragonbane" Draken

Appearance

Dragonbane, despite his 45 years, appears as a mage no older than 18 of medium height. His auburn red hair is usually covered by his robe.

His face shows youthful exuberance and a quick smile is always on his lips. His most unnerving feature is his eyes, twin red orbs that appear to be flaming. Dragonbane usually casts an illusion to cover them.

In those rare moments when he assumes dragon form he is slightly smaller than a silver of the same age and his scales have a reddish tint.

Personality

Dragonbane loves what he does, and what he does is magic. He has a soft spot for children, always casting some illusions to brighten their life. As a friend he is quick to anger and quick to forgive, but as an enemy he is quite ruthless.

Due to the Dark Queen's bounty on his head he is wary of everyone he meets. He is not patient and many have found his motto "blast with a spell first, speak with the dead later" quite unnerving.

Special

Proficient in all simple and martial weapons, all types of armor, and shields. Immune to charm/compulsion, magic jar, and soul displacement spells and the extraordinary/supernatural abilities that resemble those spells. Spells do not require material components. Fly and Dragonbane's Magic Circle Against Insects are permanent. He has the metabolism of and the sliver of a soul of a silver dragon. Can change into a dragon 1 day in 15, gaining all the abilities of an adult silver dragon. When in human form he retains all the weakness of a silver dragon.

He has an insect phobia (not including arachnids), a deathmark (Worshippers of Takhisis have a "kill on sight" order), and a 5% chance of spell misfire (random destructive effect chosen by DM).

History

Dragonbane was born Auld Draken during the Third Dragon War of Krynn. Details of his past are sketchy but it is known that his master was none other than Fistandantilus himself. How or why he survived his apprentiship is something that Dragonbane has never discussed. Records of deeds among the Knights of Solamnia can still be found in books of ancient history; the Red Mage was quite famous. He was a friend of Huma and rumors tell of him being with the knight during his last battle, though again proof of this is hard to find.

Dragons believe that he carries a shard (or the entirety) of Gwyneth's or another dragon's soul, enabling him to change into a dragon once every 15 days and to have the lifespan of a dragon. He was not born a dragon, he certainly isn't the son of a dragon, but still he has a dragon's soul.

Under the guidance of Lunitari he used a Device of Time Journerying to travel forward in time, to the end of the War of the Lance. His exploits in this time frame are recorded elsewhere. He was rumored killed in the Summer of Chaos, though reports of him have surfaced during the Age of Mortals.
