"Vengeance will be mine."

Charles Crownguard has blond hair, and wears his mustache in the tradition of the Knights of Solamnia. He appears to have been pampered as a child. If caught at the right moment, he has a look of paranoia on his face.

Charles is a madman, and is quite paranoid. His heart is filled with jealousy. He despises Sturm Brightblade, as he felt that his cousin Derek should have been the true hero of the High Clerist's Tower.

Charles Crownguard is the cousin of Derek Crownguard. The two learned in the ways of the Knights of Solamnia together, but took different paths.

Charles came into the possession of the Dagger of Jealousy during the War of the Lance. The Dagger has driven him mad with paranoia and vengeance.

Eventually, his cousin Derek died in the War. Charles blamed Sturm Brightblade, but could not exact vengeance since he had died at the High Clerist's Tower.

Charles eventually had his chance for revenge, when he stole the Brightblade from Sturm's tomb. He was eventually discovered by Erastin Rivenguard, a prospective knight, and his companions. Charles was slain in combat with Erastin, and the Brightblade was recovered.
