Eyes of MastakorD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby RavenmantleLoreUpon a successful Knowledge (Arcana) check, a character can gain the following information about the eyes of Mastakor: DC 20: The eyes of Mastakor were created two centuries ago by the minotaur historian Mastakor in an effort to improve his research. The minotaurs of Mithas were preparing an assault on Silvanesti and Mastakor was charged with finding as much historical material on elven war craft as he could in a very short period of time. DC 25: The eyes of Mastakor increase the wearer's knowledge of history and they allow him to witness certain historical events. DescriptionThe eyes of Mastakor consists of two eyeglasses set in a steel frame constructed to fit on a minotaur's muzzle. A red velvet cord is attached to either side of the frame, allowing the wearer to wear the eyes of Mastakor around his neck. PrerequisiteIn order to make use of the magical powers of the eyes of Mastakor, the wearer must be a minotaur. To all others the spectacles seem like ordinary spectacles. ActivationIn order to use the eyes' ability to go back in time, the user must concentrate for 1 minute on the event he means to study. The user cannot perform any other action while concentrating on the event and if his concentration is broken, one use of the ability is spent. EffectWhile wearing the eyes of Mastakor, the user gains a +10 competence bonus to all Knowledge (History) skill checks made. This bonus is in effect as long as the user wears the eyes of Mastakor either on his muzzle or around his neck. Three times per day the eyes of Mastakor allow the user to watch a past event as if he was there himself. The user can adjust his field of view both horizontally and vertically just as he could if he was actually there. The user cannot interact with anyone or anything participating in the event that the user is studying, nor can he affect the outcome of the event. Once activated, the ability lasts for as long as the user wishes. However, the user must make a Will save (DC 15) every 10 minutes. A failure means that the user has lost the connection to the event. For each ten minutes spent in the past, the DC increases by +2. Fan RatingsThis item has been published here with permission from the author(s) and may not be reproduced without permission.
