All Kender Pouch NetworkD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby TalinthasHistory:One Thousand years before the Cataclysm, Huma's war with Takhisis had just ended, Istar was starting on its rise as a trade center, and Kender everywhere were discovering an amazing new resource which would allow them to share items with other Kender from all over Krynn. The work of a remarkable kender with an aptitude for spellcasting (as a cleric of Branchala), the AKPN was a tide pool in the River of Time which allowed kender with access to store items there. This kender, Taksan Pinkerton, discovered this eddy when caught in the deserts of Balifor with nothing but some jerky, his lute, and a Gnomish oil-powered water finding tool. The combination of the radiation from the Waterfinder with the chemical composition of the jerky harmonized with a Bardic Prayer in the Seventh station of Paladine led to a discrepancy in the desert. The ultimate outcome of all of this was the creation of a zone outside of time, where things could be stored and retrieved through access ports. Being the kender he was, Taksan made these ports exit through small pouches, and handed them to every kender he met. Over the years, 750 of these pouches remained, and spread over Krynn wherever kender could be found. The Summer of Chaos temporarily shut down all access, but the hard work of kender sorcerers soon had the Network up and running again after 30 years. Usage:The AKPN is a nifty little storage area. Access to it comes in the form of a small brown pouch stamped with the Harp of Branchala and a Hoopak. A kender can put any inanimate item into the pouch, providing it can fit into the mouth of the pouch. Therefore, a Dragonlance could fit into the pouch, but a chair could not. However, certain kender sorcerers have been working with Thinker Gnomes to try and enlarge some of the pouches. In any case, when the kender deposits his or her item, it falls into the zone and lands with all the other items deposited by kender over the years. When a kender reaches into the pouch to grab something, a random item is brought out. There is no way to predetermine what comes out of the pouch, and most kender aren't too concerned with it anyway =). Over the years, the AKPN has become home to many remarkable items, and given the age of the network, it wouldn't be surprising to find almost anything, magical or mundane in there. Some more pious kender refer to the AKPN as Branchala's Gift to her Children. Other, more practical races, such as dwarves, refer to the AKPN as Branchala's gift to thieves and criminals everywhere, and chalk it up to the nature of a "Pansy God" catering to "Pansy Races" such as elves and kender. Most kender don't really mind, as they are always finding new toys to play with. On Taladas, the AKPN has only really taken hold in the Rainward Isles and small sectors of the League of Minotaurs. The Marak kender want nothing to do with this apparent divine creation. Fan RatingsThis item has been published here with permission from the author(s) and may not be reproduced without permission.
