AsphyxiationD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby Clive SquireAsphyxiationTransmutation [Air] Level: Sor/Wiz 3 Swirling your hands in ever tighter circles, you summon the power of magic to move the very air from around your enemies. By the use of this spell the caster causes all of the air within the affected area to move to one of the 10-feet cubes the spell can affect of his choice. This sudden lack of air in all of the other cubes causes all creatures that are totally within the affected area to make a Fortitude save or start to suffocate. Creatures that fail their save suffer an amount of non-lethal damage equal to 1d6 points per caster level (to a maximum of 10d6). Affected creatures must make this saving throw each round that they are within the area and a successful save halves the non-lethal damage. Creatures that are reduced to 0 hit points or fewer through non-lethal damage fall unconscious for 1 round per caster level. The moved air causes all lose dust and debris that is within the area to move to the cube which acts as the holding area of for the air. Creatures that enter or are within this area are able to breath normally and do not need to make any saving throw against this spell until they exit that area. Flying creatures that are caught within the area of asphyxiation and are reduced to 0 hit points by the non-lethal damage, immediately fall to the ground, suffering the normal falling damage for their altitude, this damage is lethal damage. The caster can move the holding area of the air as a standard action on his turn. This movement of air automatically extinguishes all non-magical flames within the affected area as well as all magical fires that are 2nd level or lower.
