Rivalyn's Blood SealD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby DainRivalyn's Blood Seal (or Rivalyn's Spell Taboo)Abjuration At the time of casting the blood seal, the caster must speak the name of a single spell that he or she knows (i.e. any spell written in the caster's spellbook). The caster must then successfully make a touch attack in order to mark the target with the caster's own blood. The arcane spellcaster marked by the blood seal is prohibited from casting the named spell for one hour per level, or until the blood seal is washed away. The named spell is treated as if it were from a prohibited school, so the target cannot cast the spell from memory, nor from scrolls or magic items. If the target does not know the spell or if the spell is already in a prohibited school, the target is not affected by the blood seal. Only one blood seal per caster can be active at any one time. If another blood seal is placed on the target by the same caster, the first blood seal is nullified and the new one takes its place. Material Components: At least one drop of fresh blood from the caster. If the caster has no open wounds to get the drop of blood, one must be made. Wounding himself in this way causes one HP damage to the caster. Fan RatingsThis item has been published here with permission from the author(s) and may not be reproduced without permission.
