A crackling burst spell is an explosion of electricity that pops with a crackling buzz and deals 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 10d6) to every creature in the 20-ft. radius spread. Unattended objects take half this damage.

In addition to the 20-ft. spread, the caster can designate up to two creatures no more then 10 ft. away from the blast that electricity arcs to dealing half as much damage then the initial blast. Creatures in the blast get to make Reflex saves to half the damage, while creatures hit by arcs get Reflex saves to negate the damage altogether.

You point and designate the range at which you want the blue softball size sphere to burst. It shoots from your hand and unless it strikes a barrier before reaching the prescribed range bursts as planed. The sphere striking a barrier prematurely results in premature detonation. Launching the orb through a tight or narrow passage requires a ranged touch attack, failure results in premature detonation as it strikes the passage.

Material component: A small length of copper wire rolled into a ball.
