SoulfontD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby HenradWhat is a soul? Is it a distinct entity that joins with a body and an intellect to form a person? Or is it the intangible sum of ones attributes? Mystics use their "hearts and souls" to access the divine power of creation within each living thing. A Soulfont is a mystic who thinks of the soul as the sum of her attributes. She views her soul as an untapped source of power. She cannibalizes her soul to power her magic and increase the diversity of her powers. These increases do not come with out a price however, for a soul can sustain only a finite amount of damage. RequirementsBase Attack Bonus: +5 Class SkillsThe soulfont's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Knowledge (arcana, nature, and religion) (Int), Profession (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int). Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier. Class FeaturesAll of the following are class features of the soulfont prestige class. Bonus Domain: At 1st level and again at 10th level, a Soulfont gains another domain. Inner Metamagic (Su): Starting at first level, a Soulfont may sacrifice ability score points to power her metamagic feats. This power is usable once per day at 1st level and increases by one per day every 2 levels, topping out at 5 uses at 9th level. If a metamagic feat would normally use a spell slot 3 levels higher, the soulfont can take 3 points of special ability damage to any combination of available attributes instead of using the higher spell slot. Additionally, a metamagic spell cast in this manner does not require extended casting time. For example, a Silent cure light wounds spell would normally use a 2nd-level spell slot and take a full round action to cast. Using Inner Metamagic, a 1st-level soulfont could instead use a 1st-level spell slot and cast a Silent cure light wounds spell as a standard action while taking 1 point of special ability damage to either Con or Wis. It is possible to combine effects with this power. A Still, Silent cure light wounds could be cast as a 1st-level spell with 2 pts of ability damage. The ability damage can be split between a number of abilities. For example, 5 points of ability damage could be split so that 4 go to Con and 1 to Wis. This ability damage is healed at the rate of 1 point per ability per hour. Bonus Feat: At 2nd, 6th, and 10th level, a soulfont may take a bonus metamagic feat.
