Primary Care Provider of Shinare

D&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rules

by Henrad

Investing in the local community is one of the tenets of Shinare. The Church of Shinare believes that strong and healthy communities provide strong and healthy economies. Clerics of Shinare do whatever they can to support their local communities, from endowing schools and public libraries, to mediating trade disputes and supporting/protecting trade routes.

The Health Management Organization (HMO) of Shinare was founded when a traveling cleric of Shinare encountered the hamlet of Dewsdown in Abanasinia. The small town had been without a healer for nearly 20 years and had suffered the ravages of disease. Thinking this town would be a business venture beyond pale, the cleric prayed to Shinare for the ability to heal the town. With Winged Victory's blessing, the cleric founded the Health Management Organization of Shinare. Members of the HMO, called Primary Care Providers (PCP), hail from the ranks of Shinare's clerics. A few multiclass master/mystics have been hired as well. The symbol of Shinare's Health Management Organization is a Blue Shield with a Blue Cross.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the primary care provider (PCP) prestige class.

Bonus Domain: A PCP gains the Healing domain at 1st level.

Copay: Starting at 1st level, a PCP is able to use a turn undead attempt and a cash donation to create a healing effect. At 1st level, a PCP is able to convert 1 Steel Piece and 1 turn attempt into a healing effect that heals 1d4 hp if the PCP makes a DC 20 Heal check. At 2nd level a PCP is able to convert 1 turn attempt and 10 Stp into a cure light wounds effect. At 3rd level a PCP is able to convert 15 Stp and a turn attempt into a cure moderate wounds effect. At 4th level the cost increases to 20 Stp and 2 turn attempts for a cure serious wounds effect. And at 5th level the cost increases to 30 Stp and 3 turn attempts for a cure critical wounds attempt. This is a standard action that provokes an attack of opportunity. The PCP holds the coin in one hand and touches the patient with the other. The Heal check is only required for the 1st-level ability. If the check fails, the coin and the turn attempt are spent.

Divine Pharmacy: A PCP receives Brew Potion at first level as a bonus feat. If the PCP already has this feat, he may take another item creation feat, provided he meets the requirements for it.

Prescription Benefit: Starting at 2nd level, a PCP is able to use his skills in Craft (herbalism) and Profession (apothecary) with his Turn Attempts to produce certain potions, medicines, poultices, etc. At 2nd level a PCP can make a skill check with a DC of 15 and spend a turn attempt to create a calm emotions potion. At 3rd level a PCP can make a DC 20 skill check and spend a turn attempt to create a slow poison potion. At 4th level a PCP can make a DC 20 skill check and spend 2 turn attempts to create a remove disease potion. At 5th level a PCP can make a DC 20 skill check and spend 2 turn attempts to create a neutralize poison potion. Potions created in this manner are temporary. They remain effective for 1 day + the PCP's Cha modifier. These potions are created without material and XP costs, but the PCP must have access to a herbalist's kit and potable water. Creating a potion in this manner takes 1 minute per spell level. If the skill check fails, the turning attempt is wasted.

In-Network Benefits: At 5th level, the PCP gains the benefits of the Extra Turning feat, except that these extra turning attempts can only be used for Copay, or Precription benefits.
