Block AdvancementD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby Clive SquireBlock AdvancementEvocation Only the head of one of the Orders of High Sorcery or the Head of the Conclave can cast this spell. This spell causes the touched arcane spellcaster to be prevented from gaining any more spells from an arcane spellcasting class. Block advancement can only be removed by atonement or a miracle spell cast by the chosen prophet of Paladine, the star master of Gilean or the night master of Takhisis. The target spellcaster is still able to use any spells that they can already cast or know and can still advance in any class which they have. They do not gain any additional spellcaster benefits for advancing in level. For example, a 6th level bard/5th level wizard/ 1st level red robe has block advancement cast on him. If he gains a new level in wizard he gains all the standard abilities from a new level (hp, base attack, skills, saves etc) but he cannot gain his access to 4th level spells, and is stuck casting 3rd level spells. This spell is only ever cast on those that the conclave considers a renegade. This spell only affects those that have taken and passed the Test of High Sorcery, against those that have not taken their Test, this spell has no effect.
