Gilded Fist of Shinare

D&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rules

by Henrad

When the average commoner sees a humble monk walking down the street, she is likely to flip a loose copper piece his way as a donation. In order to capitalize on this, the church of Shinare created a monastic order, with the idea that the potential for ANY profit should not go untapped. The monks of Shinare were born.

The mainstream church of Shinare gains profits through business ventures and community improvement. The clergy of Shinare will also cast spells for profit. In a desire to captialize on this "spell power" market and increase competition forces, the monks of Shinare created an elite order called the Gilded Fists of Shinare.

Monks of other orders and deities who take a vow of poverty, the Gilded Fists are dedicated to collecting and redistrubting wealth. They are directed to obtain wealth and use the power of commerce to benefit the people (themselves included) and the communities they encounter.

Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int Modifier

Class Features:

Monk Abilities: A Gilded Fist of Shinare's class level stack with his monk levels for determining his unarmed damage, AC Bonus, unarmored speed bonus, and flurry of blows.

Vow of Wealth: All Gilded Fists of Shinare after undergoing training in business practices and economics must take a Vow of Wealth. This vow requires them to venture forth into the world seek wealth by any legal means. The focus this vow grants, allows the charater to choose a bonus feat from the following (Haggler, Street Smart, Skill Focus Appraise, Skill Focus Gather Information, and Skill Focus Sense Motive).

Collection Plate: Upon attaining 2nd level Shinare gives the Gilded Fist of Shinare a special container (it need not be a plate) with the qualities of a Bag of Holding Type I. This special "bag of holding" be any type of container the character wants from a chest to a simple bag.

Power of Divine Commerce: Using wealth stored in his Collection Plate, a Gilded Fist of Shinare can buy divine spell power. At 4th level the Gilded fist is limited to 1st level spells. At 7th level 2nd level spells can be purchased and at 10th level 3rd level spells are for sale. The cost is equal to 3 times the market price of a scroll of the desired spell. The spell is cast as if cast by a cleric with a caster level equal to the class level. Once the spell is cast, the wealth used to "purchase" the spell disappears and is redistrubed to the churches of Shinare. This power is usable a number of times per day equal to class level divided by 2. If a spell is attempted without enough wealth in the collection plate, the spell fails and the attempt is wasted. Casting a spell in this manner does provoke attacks of oppurtunity. If a concentration check is required, and the check fails, the divine commerce attempt is wasted. The wealth used to purchase this power can be in any form such as, coins, gems, items, weapons. The wealth to be used is designated by the Gilded Fist at the time of casting. If an item is used to power the spell, but the value of the item is greater that what is needed for the spell, the item is consumed and no coins are given in return. For example a Cure Serious Wounds spell cast in this manner would cost 1125 steel pieces and have a caster level of 10. The Gilded Fist would then have 4 remaining potential spell purchases left.

Holy Economics: At 5th level the Gilded Fist of Shinare receives a +1sacred bonus to all Appraise, Diplomacy, Gather Information, and Sense Motive Checks. This bonus rises to +2 at 10th level.

Gilded Stance: At 9th level a Gilded Fist of Shinare can cast a special version of stoneskin once per day. This spell works just as stoneskin but produces a gold shell instead of stone. This spell is cast with a caster level of 9.
