Variant Wizard Spellcasting ChartsD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby Trampas WhitemanIntroductionFor those of us who have a copy of Dragonlance Adventures, you might remember how each order had a different spells per day chart. This was created with the idea of quantifying how each order approached magic. The following are variant spells per day charts, one per order. It should be noted that players should choose these charts at 1st level. If a character changes robes, he will switch progression charts. All normal rules for changing orders remain in tact. Black RobesBlack Robes tend to gain power quicker at lower levels, yet by doing so, they don't gain as much power at higher levels as members of the other orders. Their hunger for power will lead them down the quick and easy road, yet they will not be the most powerful in the end.
Red RobesRed Robe wizards, standing in the middle between light and darkness, gain power at lower levels faster than White Robes, but are more powerful at higher levels than the Black Robes (though not to the extent that the White Robes do). This represents the middle ground that all Red Robes stand upon.
White RobesWhite Robes gain power at lower levels slower than the other orders. However, in the end, they will have the most power at higher levels. This represents the narrow path that a White Robe must follow.
