Collar of the HoundsD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby DarthsylverCollar of the Hounds: The collar is made from copper and is plated with silver. Each necklace is keyed to a ring when the necklace is placed on a creature; the ring also serves as the key for the collar's lock. When the collar is first placed on a creature, it is granted a Will save (DC 18) to completely resist the effect of that particular collar. Once a creature fails the Will save, it becomes subject to the effects of a greater command spell and must obey one-word commands given by whoever wears the ring attuned to that collar. The collar does differ slightly from the spell in the following manner: when given a command, the creature is granted a Will save (DC 18) to resist and, if the save succeeds, is not required to obey the command. However, if the creature does not comply with the command then it receives an electrical shock that deals 1d6 points of electrical damage (no save, spell resistance applies). In addition, if a creature has spell resistance it is granted a Will save (DC 18) to become completely immune to the effects of that particular collar once a day. Faint evocation and moderate enchantment; CL 9th; Craft Wondrous Item, Forge Ring, greater command, shocking grasp; Price 92,000 stl; Weight 1 lb.
