The Hammer of KharasD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby Logan(Revision of the version presented in the Dragonlance Campaign Setting.) Dwarven Warhammer +4 This legendary weapon is an oversized warhammer made by Reorx, the dwarven god. It is a unique weapon, made entirely of the finest adamantine, richly engraved with runes and dwarven motives, and various jewels of great magical power. Special rules:1) This is an Exotic weapon, and a racial weapon (dwarven), requiring some training in its use (an Exotic Weapon feat). Otherwise the wielder will take a -4 penalty to attack rolls with it (cumulative penalty). 2) It can only be wielded by characters of good alignment who have a Strength of 18 or higher. Each point of STR below 18 gives the wielder a cumulative penalty of -2 to attack rolls, and a non-cumulative penalty of -2 to AC due to the weapon's clumsiness. 3) This is an epic weapon for all purposes, including damage reduction. 4) The opposite side of the hammer's head is a heavy pick. Powers:1) Bane (undead), Disruption, Holy. 2) Intelligent weapon: Alignment LG; INT 11, WIS 17, CHA 20, EGO 24. It can communicate via speech or telepathy. 3) Detect evil at will; complete immunity to fear; spell resistance 24, +4 bonus to saves vs. spells; 4) Anyone holding the Hammer gains a +8 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy checks when dealing with dwarves, since all dwarves recognize the Hammer of Kharas from their tales and legends. Extraordinary Powers: Bull's strength (on wielder) 1/day, heal (on wielder) 1/day, prayer 1/day, protection from arrows 1/day. The Hammer decides when to use any of its abilities. The LegendsFirst called the Hammer of Honor during the Age of Dreams, the Hammer of Kharas is a mighty artifact of Good. It was forged by Reorx, who then granted the hammer to mortals to forge the Dragonlances and to champion the cause of the dwarven race. Lost for eons, it was recovered by the dwarf hero Kharas (meaning "Knight") shortly after the first Cataclysm. Kharas left the hammer in the tomb of Duncan, where it remained until it was recovered by the Heroes of the Lance and was given to Hornfel. It has remained in the dwarven thane's possession since that day. The hammer's goals are to preserve the security of the dwarven race, and to further the cause of Good on Krynn. The Hammer of Kharas is required in the creation of Greater Dragonlances and may be used directly with Dragonmetal to forge Lesser Dragonlances.
