KodragonspawnD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby André La RocheWhen the folk of Ansalon hear the word "dragonspawn" images of innocents twisted both body and mind into ferocious chromatic dragon-men come to mind. Few would ever conjure the image of a small, furry, and cuddly creature in conjunction with the word. Yet, when the mysterious kodragons utilize this ritual, that's exactly what results. Unlike the Overlords and other chromatics, kodragons are selective in who "deserves" to be made into a spawn. More often than not they select evil humanoids in need of a lesson, though they have been known on occasion to make spawn of curious kender, and subsequently reverse the process after a few months, allowing the kender to continue its wandering ways with a new experience under its belt. As this implies, unlike chromatic dragonspawn, kodragonspawn can be from any variety of humanoid without fear of transforming into an abomination. Sages at the Great Library are unable to piece together the reason for this, believing the most likely answer to be something dealing with kodragons' extraplanar nature. Kodragonspawn resemble their creators as their bodies shrink and become covered in fine fur while their eyes enlarge to become black shimmering saucers. Finally, kodragon spawn inherit their parents' signature pouch and breath weapon, as well as gaining wings and a tail. Their teeth and claws aren't sharp enough to do the typical damage that is associated with dragonspawn. The personality of the transformed creature inherently becomes more cheerful, curious, and playful. Most individual that run into a formerly kender kodragonspawn are found to have died by their own hands. Creating a Kodragonspawn"Kodragonspawn" is an acquired template that may be added to any corporeal humanoid creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature). A kodragonspawn has all the base creature's characteristics except as noted here. Size and Type: The base creature's size category decreases by one category affecting its ability scores appropriately (see the Monster Manual on changing size), and its type changes to monstrous humanoid. Speed: Kodragonspawn fly at twice the land speed of the base creature (average maneuverability) or as the base creature, whichever is faster. AC: The base creature's natural armor increases by +2. Special Attacks: Kodragonspawn retain all the special attacks of the base creature and also gain new abilities as listed below.
Special Qualities: A kodragonspawn gains low-light vision and darkvision (30-foot range) if it did not already have them, as well as a pouch.
Abilities: The following adjustments are made in addition to those accompanying the base creature's size change: Dex +4, Int +2, Wis +2, Cha +4 Feats: Same as the base creature. Kodragonspawn also have access to dragon feats. Climate/Terrain: As per dragon creator.
