Nightbringer

D&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rules

by Joe Mashuga

Nightbringer: The Dragon Highlord Verminaard seldom entered combat, but when he did so, this +3 heavy mace made short work of his enemies. It allows the wielder to cast blindness upon command (Fort DC 13) upon any creature that it strikes. Blindness lasts for 2d6 minutes. Nightbringer can cast blindness as many times as it strikes in a given round.

The mace bestows two negative levels on any good creature that holds it, and forces the holder to make a Fortitude save (DC 18) or be struck blind until remove blindness/deafness is cast upon him. The negative levels remain as long as the mace is in hand and disappear when it is no longer wielded. These negative levels never result in actual level loss, but they cannot be overcome in any way (including restoration spells) while Nightbringer is wielded.

Caster Level: 9th; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, blindness/deafness; Market Price: 39,910 gp; Cost to Create: 20,110 gp + 1,584 XP.
