Staff of Magius
D&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rules
This potent and versatile minor artifact was the test of the Ancient Raistlins mage's skill and has several offensive and defensive capabilities. The secrets used in crafting these staves have been lost, and none have been created since the Great Archmage. The staff is long wooden with a orb that looks like a dragons eye held by a golden dragon claw.
The following powers are free:
detect magic, knock, shield 3ft radius enlarged, hold portal, light, featherfall, mage hand, mage armor, protection from good/evil
The following powers drain 1 charge per use:
lightning bolt (5th level, 10d6, DC17), dispel magic, invisibility, passwall, pyrotechnics, wall of fire, web, fireball (5th level, 10d6, DC17), cone of cold (15d6, DC15), ice storm (5d6, 800írng, DC17), levitation
The following powers drain 2 charges per use:
greater planar ally (24HD) 1/day, summon monster IX, wall of fire, planar shift, whirlwind, telekinesis (500 pounds)
The following powers drain 3 charges per use:
teleport without error, mindblank
The staff is also a +2 quarterstaff and cannot be dislodged or accidentally dropped by wielder. It provides a base Spell Resistance of 23 and can absorbs spells like a staff of the magi, but without the possibility of overload or the capabilities of a Retributive Strike.
