At the height of the Ergothian Empire, before even the great rebellion of Vinas Solamnus, the Ergothians had perfected the art of blackening steel, as black was one of the primary colours of the Empire. Ergothian chainmail is a light shade of black, sometimes appearing as very dark blue when exposed to bright sunlight. The design has full sleeves and falls to about hauberk length; a few inches above the knees. The process of blackening steel makes it highly resistant to weathering and rusting and as such, Ergothian chainmail has a +2 bonus to all saves against magical and non-magical weathering and rusting.
