A Young Knight

Composer's Description:

This is a four-part story of a young man who has just entered the knighthood. The opening is when he first arrives at the fortress he is stationed at. The second is telling about him meeting new friends in the nighthood, and about him simply going about his business, as he hits a few snags, but continues on. He is happy with the choice he made to join the knights. The next part is soon after his first battle, in which he lost one of his new friends. The young knight is ashamed he could not help, as he had been right there, witness to the violence, but he perseveres, and returns to his duty. The fourth section is about the rest of his carreer as a knight, with the rising key changes representing his climb through the ranks as he performs heroic deeds, but then the key changes back down to the original, showing that though he is important in the eyes of his peers, they are all important, and they all have the same job in the end: to preserve life and honor. The ending simbolizes his noble and honorable death that any knight would hope for.
