Murder of a Silenced Man

by Kristi Jean

This is a song about a person who is walking in the ruins of an old temple, after the Second Cataclysm. There is terror and he tries to flee, yet a trapped spirit arrives to tell him not to forget the wars and those who fought in them.

I walked down the hall
To leave this wretched place
Turned the corner
And stopped
In my path was a man
Whom I've never once seen
And when I opened my mouth
To speak of wisdom
He opened his and said:

-chorus 1-
Don't forget what's in these halls
A murder of a man
Don't forget who walked these halls
A killer of a man.

My mouth agape
With silence pouring out
I came back from shock
Blinked and shook my head
He was gone
With no clue of what he said
I continued down the hall
I hear a voice that said:

(-chorus 1-)

I ran from the pain
The agony in this sound
And turned another corner
I slipped on dead man's blood
And saw a battered body
None had heard this man be killed
But I had fair warning
And I fell into the song:

-chorus 2-
You won't forget what's in these halls
The image of a man
You won't forget the steps you heard
When behind you was a man.
