Centuries after an event known as the Cataclysm struck Krynn, people have lived in despair, fighting for survival and bitterly cursing the gods that abandoned them...Until the epic War of the Lance swept over Ansalon, violently re-introducing the peoples of this continent to not only the gods that they had felt abandoned them long ago, but to fearsome creatures of legend: dragons. Coupled with the introduction of a foul new race known as draconians, corrupted offspring of the good metallic dragons, Ansalon found itself turned upside down.
