Chambers of AstinusMinotaursThe Minotaur race is another by-product of the Graygem. As the Graygem rampaged through the world of Krynn, it altered ogres in both Ansalon and also in Taladas. The result of some of these altered ogres were the minotaur race. All minotaur stand over seven feet tall and are heavily muscular. They are covered in fur of brown, black, red or white coloring. Their faces resemble bulls and they have short horns. They are all fierce warriors and seafaring creatures. There are three types of distinct minotaur, each type separated by the region in which they hail from: The Imperial League, The Blood Sea Isle Minotaurs, and the Kazelati. Blood Sea Isle MinotaursLong ago, the minotaurs, under the leadership of the fearsome warrior Ambeoutin, formed a new kingdom in the Blood Sea Isles. This kingdom became the center of power for all Ansalonian minotaurs. Shortly after it's creation, the twin sons of Ambeoutin fought to become his heir. The two fighters fought day and night with neither being able to defeat the other. They were declared duel-heirs, and the twin kingdoms of Mithas and Kothas (named after the twins) came into creation upon Ambeoutin handing over the reins of power. Minotaurs of the Blood Sea Isles are almost always both warriors and sailors. It is a seafaring nation, and they are among the greatest sailors upon Krynn. Minotaurs believe that they are most superior race on Krynn and will sometimes ally themselves with adventurers, only if it suits their own purposes. They uphold honor as one of their highest tenets. The Blood Sea Isles Minotaurs of contemporary times, now all follow one emperor. This emperor is also served by the Supreme Circle, which is eight of the most powerful and highly respected minotaurs of the realm. The Supreme Circle control the regular affairs of all minotaur life, and the Emperor presides over them all. Blood Sea Isle Minotaurs compete in the Great Circus (arena battles), to raise their rank, fame and social status in the minotaur empire. Almost all Blood Sea Isle Minotaurs worship Sargas (Sargonnas), although the odd exception has been known to worship Kiri-Jolith. KazelatiThe Kazelati formed their own nation quite some time after the Blood Sea Isles formed theirs. Kaziganthi de-Orilg, the famous Blood Sea Isle minotaur, with his mate Helati, formed their own settlement south of Istar. During the Cataclysm, the land upon which this settlement resided, broke free from the main continent and became several small islands that eventually stopped drifting far east. This group of islands became known as the Holakan Islands. The islands were hidden by the magic of Sutor the Blind, so that the Kazelati could remain in peace. They do have arenas, but these are used for sports, and not for gladiatorial matches. The Kazelati are far more calm than their cousins on the Isles, however they are also comprised of mainly sailors and fighters. Some of the Kazelati are also mages, although the average Kazelati still has a large mistrust of all things magical. Imperial LeagueThe Imperial League are the minotaurs of Taladas. They are the singlemost strongest organisation on the continent and hold most of Taladas in their iron grip of power. The first minotaurs of Taladas all fled for Ansalon when they were first created, as the ogres hunted them down. There were several expeditions back to Taladas by seafaring minotaurs, however most of them ended in tragedy. One such expedition, led by Eragas the Brutish, succeeded in reaching the western side of Taladas and the minotaurs led an assault upon the human city of Kristophan. They easily conquered this and Eragas began setting up a new minotaur nation. The League minotaurs stand at seven to eight and a half feet tall. Their fur is anything from blond to black. League minotaurs have a life span of 150 years, although most minotaurs die in battle long before this age. Since the League has conquered much of Taladas, the minotaurs have time to pursue studies and other things outside of combat. Whilst many are still warriors, there are a lot more mages and clerics amongst the League, than anywhere else on Krynn. There are a few scattered groups of non-League minotaurs spread across Taladas, but few are of any note and physically they resemble their League-brothers.
